High level of danger for pedestrians in Florida

Pedestrian accidents can cause great harm to pedestrians and families. Florida is the most dangerous state in the United States for pedestrians. Florida is ranked as the number one state for pedestrians to be most likely struck and killed by a driver. In addition, 9 of the 15 most dangerous cities in the United States for pedestrians are located in Florida. Pedestrians have important legal protections to be familiar with.

The dangers of pedestrian accidents

Between 2010 and 2019, drivers struck and killed 53,435 pedestrians throughout the U.S. which equals, on average, 17 pedestrian victims daily. The number of pedestrian victims killed while walking has been increasing each year and has grown by 45% over the most recent decade that data has been available for analysis. During the same 10-year period of time, there were 5,893 pedestrian deaths in Florida.

Protections for pedestrian accident victims

When a pedestrian has been struck by a careless driver, personal injury protections can help victims with their damages. In addition, if the pedestrian dies in the accident, wrongful death legal protections may be able to offer legal protections to surviving family members who have wrongfully lost their loved one. Personal injury legal protections can help with the physical, financial and emotional toll and damages oftentimes associated with a pedestrian accident.

Pedestrian accidents can be traumatic and unexpected and can result in catastrophic injuries to the pedestrian’s body or death. Victims and their families should be familiar with the legal remedies protecting them when they have been harmed by a negligent driver.
