Fountain crash kills four, leaves one in critical condition

We are blessed to live in a state with some of the largest stretches of beaches of any state, and just about everyone in the state is just a short drive away from them. We are also blessed with some of the best theme parks and tourist attractions in the world. The downside to all these blessings, though, is that we have roadways clogged with residents, tourists and commercial vehicles. This congestion leads to car crashes, like the fatal crash that recently occurred in Fountain.

The fatal car crash

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at the end of last month on U.S. 231 in Fountain. FHP said that a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it collided head-on with a northbound vehicle.

After the crash

One of the cars burst into flames almost immediately after the collision. FHP believes the wrong-way driver was killed on impact or soon after. There were two passengers in his vehicle, and both were rushed by Bay County EMS to the hospital with critical injuries. The other vehicle had three occupants as well, but they were all pronounced dead at the scene. To date, there has been no update, and according to the last reports from FHP, the collision is under investigation. It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved.

After car accidents

For our Tallahassee, Florida, readers, it is highly likely they have scene accidents scenes like this one. And, while the fault here is likely not in question because one of the drivers was driving the wrong way, the extent of liability will still need to be determined. This is because, if drugs or alcohol were involved, the wrong-way driver’s estate and insurance could be liable for additional, punitive damages, to the victims.
