Florida high in aggressive driving and car accidents

While there are certain driver behaviors in Florida and across the U.S. that can cause crashes like drunk drivers, distracted drivers and drowsy drivers, aggressive driving is also dangerous even though it does not get as much attention. Researchers who examine the causes of auto accidents seek to find a connection between how a driver is behaving and the crash. A recent study from GasBuddy indicates that Florida has some of the most aggressive drivers in the country. People who are in an accident and have been injured or lost a loved one in an accident should know about this issue.

For many years, Floridians have been perceived as some of the worst drivers in the country. There are a significant number of accidents in which a driver is going the wrong way on the road. It has the second worst record for pedestrian deaths in the country. And one road – Interstate 4 – was designated as the highway with the highest risk. In the new study, it was shown that three areas in particular – Tampa-St. Petersburg, Miami-Fort Lauderdale and Orlando were among the 20 well-populated cities in the U.S. with the highest number of aggressive drivers.

Researchers used data they accrued from their app. It recorded behaviors from Nov. 2018 to Feb. 2019 in the 30 most densely populated metropolitan locations. Days of the week were deemed important for aggressive driving. On Fridays, drivers tend to exhibit more aggression behind the wheel with 14 percent more incidents than the average. Wednesday is considered the day with the least amount of aggressive driving.

When there is an accident in Florida, the car accident victim can be confronted with medical expenses, lost time at work and a life that is drastically changed. With a fatality, a family will need to face the emotional and personal impact from the unexpected and unnecessary death. Statistics can be used to help prove a case and receive compensation. If aggressive driving was the cause, this can be integral to a successful case. A law firm that has experience in assessing and investigating car accidents should be contacted for guidance when considering a legal filing.
