Our roads are generally clear, except when they are not. But, one thing that no local would ever claim is that our roadways and highways are safe. Indeed, we have a large number of tourists traveling on our roads, along with a lot of commercial vehicles taking goods from ports located across Florida. This means that even if someone’s negligence would normally have little consequences on less congested roads, when it occurs on our roads, the consequences can be sever, even deadly, like a recent fatal multi-vehicle car accident.

The deadly accident

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle car crash occurred near Old Town on Southwest U.S. Highway 19 near Southeast Highway 317 last Friday morning after 8:30 a.m. when a car traveling southbound strayed into the northbound lanes. This caused two cars and another pickup truck to collide.

The aftermath

The passanger in the truck, a 65-year-old local woman was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, four other people were treated by first responders with non-life-threatening injuries. Though, it is unknown whether any of these people were taken to the hospital. The fatal car crash shut down both directions Southwest U.S. Highway 19 until just after 3:00 p.m.

After Florida car accidents

Unfortunately, for most of our Tallahassee, Florida, readers, this accident probably sounds familiar because it is not the first accident we have seen on our roads. This is why it is so important to be prepared. Set up a dashboard camera, have an attorney’s number or card ready and maybe, even keep a disposable camera in the glovebox, just in case. Remember, always call 9-1-1 after an accident and request both a medical and police response to ensure that everyone is okay and that there is a police report. That police report can help one avoid a tricky negligent driver avoiding attempting to avoid liability later.
