A discussion of common car accident injuries

A car accident can leave a Tallahassee resident with significant pain and unexpected physical limitations. While there is no way to discuss every possible injury that a victim may suffer in a car crash, this post will introduce some of the most common forms of injury that result from motor vehicle accidents. As with all posts on this personal injury blog readers are reminded that no part of this post should be read as legal or medical advice.

Head injuries are unfortunately common in car crashes because there are many hard surfaces for victims to hit their heads on after impacts. A victim-driver may hit their head on a window or the steering wheel in front of them, or a passenger may hit their head on the dashboard of the car. Concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injury can result from different types of car accidents.

Broken bones and sprains are also common during vehicle crashes. The body is subjected to significant forces and pressure during and accident and often the structures of the body cannot withstand what is forced upon it. Broken bones of the spine may result in paralysis, while broken ribs may result in lacerations to the lungs and other organs of the body.

Many victims of car accidents suffer burns, road rash, cuts, bruises, and other traumas to their skin as a result of broken glass, hot surfaces, and other vehicle collision by-products. While many car accident victims will recover from their injuries over time, their harm may impose significant hardships upon them and their families. Litigation may offer them a means to pursue their losses and to recover what was taken from them in their crashes.
